How often do you go to LAN parties?
Just interested, how often do you go on LAN parties?
I myself go about once or twice a month, once a year for a bigger one (3000 people)
It can be this:
Or, it can be this:
I don't go to LAN parties seeing how they're always hosted at my house! [smile] Unfortunately, I don't have consistent LAN parties. I'll have one that will go on for about a week sometimes two, and this will happen only a few times a year (maybe 3 or more). My friends don't even have to bring their computers because I have enough at home... for the most part. And as of late, the only game that we were playing was DotA (3v3). Anyhow, LAN parties are always great fun, wish I could have more. I'm pretty sure I'll continue to have many more LAN parties down the road. Cheers!
That second picture looks awesome!!!
Remember Codeka is my alternate account, just remember that!
never been to one. I think it would be fun but the disconnecting, transport, assembly, disconnecting, transport, reassembly turns me off to the prospect. If I had one of those lunchbox pc's I might be more inclined to do it. I've done Xbox lan parties which required much less lugging, and those were quite fun. Used to do 2 a week but haven't done one since halo 2 came out.
In high school 8 to 12 of my friends would get together and have one. So much fun. By the way COD II multiplayer is one of the greatest LAN games ever. Also I used a gaming laptop so I never experienced the "lugging stuff around" part.
I've never been to an epic, massive LAN party like the second picture you posted.
I've had smallish LAN parties with six or so people, and there was the time where we set up 5 360s and had 2v2 Halo 3 matches running on each and got a tournament going.
I actually find LAN parties kind of boring and I get much more fun out of going online and battling randoms.

I still play starcraft with a few of my friends on occasion, but it's 4 of us at most.

I used to host Halo 2 (then Halo 3) LAN parties occasionally, maybe 2-3 times a year. Some of my friends who work at my university are going to host one for their residents, I'm looking forward to helping get that running.
I've never had enough hardcore gaming friends to get a real PC LAN party going, it's a lot easier to set up 4 TV's and 4 Xboxes to get 16 people playing than getting a PC LAN going for half that many people in my experience.
I find LAN parties a lot more enjoyable than playing online because it's more of a social experience (partially because I don't have enough friends to form a close-knit clan or whatever). Jokes get cracked, egos get burnished, and copius amounts of caffeine get ingested.

I used to go to LAN parties. The primary motivation was to play games with people and have very low pings. That was back in the day when I still had a 56k modem. Now that high-speed internet is here, there really isn't a point anymore.
Also, the bad thing about LAN parties is the crash which follows afterward. You play a lot of games, drink a lot of soda, eat junk food, don't sleep for a long time, start to smell and end up feeling blah.
My younger brother plays games with his friends and uses ventrilo. There's not much of a difference between that and lan parties.
