looks awsome:
http://www.rage-game.com/home.action maybe better than fallout?
From watching the trailer it feels like Fallout, Bio-shock, and halflife2 all went out and got drunk, and 9 months later this is what happened.

I'm thinking I'll pass unless I hear of something half way unique happening here.

:P

Seriously though, I can't wait to play this. I really like the kind of colorful, animated, almost cartoon-y look they've got going on there.

Looked like Fallout, Bio-shock, and Halflife 2 all went out and got drunk, than they barfed out awesome in the form of a video game.

Given the disappointment I had playing Doom 3, high hopes for a good game from Id has fallen by the wayside for me. In the future we can't duct tape a flashlight to a shotgun?

I think everyone has already pretty much nailed it. My concern is the actual gameplay - it looks so-so. Driving around and shooting stuff, walking around and shooting stuff. Not that it won't be good looking stuff you are shooting at, but will it be fun? I dunno.

That, and what kind of hardware is it going to take to run it at a decent resolution and a decent framerate? Ever since quake, it seems as though every id game has required the latest, greatest hardware, otherwise it runs like molasses. Also, how much content is already created for the game? It looks like they've got some slick tools for making the terrain, but all the other additional modelling has got to take quite some time.
I think Tim Willits and some other guy are going to be playing a half hour game of RAGE today at quakecon, don't know when though. maybe there will be a live feed.

edit:

it's tommorrow:

Quote:

2:30pm - 3:00pm - Main Stage
RAGE™ - First Public Demo
RAGE creative director, Tim Willits, and lead designer, Matt Hooper, drop the top on id Software's revolutionary new game RAGE, with the first ever public demonstration of live gameplay.

They've said their target is 60hz on consoles since they first started talking about the game. In other words, your computer can max it out no sweat.

As to the trailer, I'm impressed. Looks unique, yet distinctively "id". It looks more like Motorstorm and Mad Max went out drinking, and barfed all over Doom. That's a very f'ing good thing in my book.
Did JC say anything about when the Doom 3 is going to be GPLed at Quake Con?
