Allegro...
Hey, should I use the Allegro game library when first starting game developement? I''ve been reading plain C++ books to just learn the language first, and now I want to actually make a simple game such as pong. So would using Allegro game library be most advantageous in a learning sense or is it just for people who want to rush out a good game without coding in detail? I''m not really sure, but some advice would be helpful.
Thanks
I have been using Allegro for a while an im quite happy with it. Im too a beginner so Allegro was somethin easy to use. I didnt need to learn a whole new api, the functions names are self explaining and there aren't any confuse structs to use (as in DX).
Ehh... go to www.allegro.cc and look at the files section... if you have trouble compiling it (what you should not have) go to forums installation and setup section
Besides Allegro is very portable too, i mean code written using it.

[fixed typo that sayd 'there are any confuse structs' there are none of these really]

That''s the first time I''ve ever seen an Allegrolite from the allegro.cc boards here! Whassup Ook! Do as he says Elwren; Allegro is excellent for beginners.

Yup!
I really recommend Allegro for all those who are new on game programming, is really simple to use and you can focus more on the GameCore programming than graphics...
how ever, when you learn how to make games it would be a good idea to learn DirectX
