hello, I am wondering if there are schools that are in Canada or USA for game business that teach how to run a business in the game industry or is there a courses in a game design school? I looked at FullSail's Entertainment Business courses and i am not sure if it is what I'm looking for. Just so we all know i am 15 and i do read A LOT of game business articles and i am buying some books soon on game business, I also do read a lot of articles and stuff about programs and software i would need to make a game. But if this does not require can i just get a game design degree or something and learn business on the way by my self with my team? like i get a degree in game design and then i have a team and we build up and then i become the president of the company. Because I am going to have to get a game deign degree to know a bit about that people are talking about when the team makes the game. SO as you see i need a bit of help knowing if there is a game business school out there in Canada or USA or i don't need a degree in game business and just go with game design. Your help will be greatly appreciated. I am not just doing this for a hobby i am trying to start a business to make games like blizzard entertainment, before you say i will not get to do that, I want to say i will do what ever it takes i will and i am buying books and trying my best to get information. This is what i want to do and people have done it before. Me and my friend have the passion to do it we are not just going to quit we will get back up if we get pushed down. Thank you. Please help
You'd be well advised to get a business degree, maybe even an MBA. In the meantime you can subscribe to Game Developer magazine and IndustryGamers.com's daily email newsletter. If you read those faithfully for the 4 to 6 years it'll take you to get your degree(s), you'll be well prepared. Then get a job at a game company and find out how the industry works from the inside for a couple years, before you run off and start your own company.
