hi, see i recently bought medieval 2 total war but im in arizona and now i have to fly to illinois. and my aunt wanted me to make sure it will still work.
This isn't really GameDev related, but yes, it will work fine. Optical discs (CDs, DVDs) aren't affected by airport x-rays.

The only thing I can think of that actually gets affected by airport x-rays is film.

It's no problem
Afaik,in modern scan systems intensity too small even for films, because modern X-ray digital scan detectors is very censitive.Old systems in my opinion could erase even flash memory, but in past times there were no flash-players:)
I put my Xbox 360 and all my games through an airport x-ray machine. It all works just fine. I think you're safe. :)
my hard drives regularly go through airport x-rays and there's no problem there

to be honest there's the same chance that your clothes will suddenly turn into another (fully licensed) copy of medieval total war as anything happening to a cd/dvd

note i didn't guarantee the cds will actually fly to illinois though and still work, they're limited to whatever plane the baggage handlers put 'em on, but someone in spain might get a nice surprise and send you a thank-you letter

People put everything you can imagine through those detectors.

Computers (optical drives, hard drives, batteries), wallets (creditcards, ids badges, key-fobs), watches, cellphones, food, and even pets and humans.

Your cds are totally safe.
