I've been pondering over a scenario lately that nicely describes something I'm working on but have hit a roadblock. Hopefully other people can help me with a question i ask. Anyway, ill get to it; The Story: There's Bob. He spends practically every moment at the Arcade. Lately the Arcade has decided to charge to play their games and Bob cannot play anymore. Bob gets a job at the local supermarket so he can continue going to the Arcade. He doesn't enjoy working at the supermarket, but it is a means to an end and when he does get to the Arcade, he loves it more than he ever did before. Sadly Bob works 8 hours a day and is too tired to be at the Arcade for more than an hour after work. Bob's boredom at work steadily increases to the point where he starts challanging himself. How tightly can he pack that trolley? How many palletes can he stack on the shelves? How quickly can he process $1000 of transactions? And his workmates are happy to join in; they're as bored as he is. Work quickly becomes a competitive business where Bob is continuily fighting for top place with a few other elites. Bob slowly starts to go to the Arcade less and less. Bob's boss is happy too; the store is making more money than ever. In fact, the Boss is so happy with Bob that he pulls Bob aside one day and offers Bob a place in management. Bob's not sure about this. He has no idea whats involved in manangement and starts to remember why he worked in the first place... What should Bob do? His reason for working is gone, so he should quit? He is enjoying where he is currently, so he should continue working? He never knows when he might need more money, so he should take the promotion?
Take the promotion, because MONEY.

USE THE POKEBALL TO CATCH CHARMANDER!

Was there any other reason for Bob to be working at the supermarket? Bills or something? Or is he living in an isolated Bobiverse?

Bob will probably be even more bored in management. Why doesn't he go work at the arcade?
Looks like Bob fell headfirst into the Real World™!

yeah this

i work in a bank to fund my programming portfolio work, i'm currently being put through manager training but i plan on quitting at the merest hint of a coding job

but portfolio work is hard to just sit down and get done after you've worked a full day, so you end up doing maybe 2 hours worth a night at most, so i have to dedicate my weekend to it

my girlfriend on the other hand is blazing through her portfolio cos she lives with her parents and doesn't have to worry about rent and food so doesn't have a job slowing her down, and as a result she's getting better than me at coding*, it's so unfair!!!

*well sorta. she's a web programmer so the hardest thing she has to do is php...

Nope we are dealing with a Bobiverse. The arcade is all automated... theres even a machine that repairs the arcade machines =X.
