A "full back" here is a rugby position. Each rugby team will have one "full back" who, not surprisingly, is the furthest back on the pitch when you start in formation.
I love it how it's called American "Football" where feet seem to be used a great deal less for ball contact than in other sports I've seen. American Football seems to me to be a lot closer to rugby which is officially called Rugby Football... argh, making a point FAIL. Certainly, American Football seems to be a lot closer in terms of play style to rugby than conventional European football as you have tackles, passes by hand and the objective of touching the ball down at the other end of the pitch or kicking it between two posts.
