Obviously someone hasn't read the Requirements on most game development jobs. Yup, requires a beard. College graduate? Who cares. Beard? You're in.

Score. I'm in. [grin]

If only that were really true. I'd totally have another job.

The real reason the senior guys all have beards is because our priorities do not include spending hours every week staring at ourselves in the bathroom mirror trying to alter our appearance to be that of little boys. People who do that tend to get into sales and merketing by the time they're experienced enough to be management level.

Wow, you must suck really really bad at shaving if it takes you hours every week to shave.

Note: If applicant doesn't have beard, must have glasses and a gaunt look upon their face.

(Notice how this applies to Will Wright as well :o )

I smell a future GDNet poll:

Do you have a beard:
A. Yes.
B. No.
C. I'm a woman.
D. Yes, and I'm a woman.

I think you forgot to post the supposedly correct attribution to Norvig: Teach programming in ten years (and ofc other linked content from there), though your text sounds like you did the research yourself :D

I think that should be made mandatory reading for the For Beginners forum... and for everyone else on the forums that does programming.

If you don't submit it, I will. Also, I wonder what would happen if we all submitted the same poll...

Well, you end up with poll duplication.

That, or an additional option:
E. I already answered this poll.

well i am seeing the trend , i dont know about anyone else
:)
Beards are overrated. The guy in our office who has the biggest beard is actually the most difficult to work with.

I predict that the future of this industry lies with the men (or women, I suppose) who sport the soul patch.
