Ever since I was about 10 I wanted to make some sort of complete game creator program. I''ve made a few simple text adventure creators and made a game called TechnoVenture (a side-scroller game) that had a map editor (there were a few incarnations of that, Amiga, DOS, DirectX, between 1993 and 1999). I''ve always loved side-view games, possibly because the first cool game I ever saw (on an Apple IIe or something) was Aztec. That game rocked . My "dream project" kinda changed over the years as computers and technology changed. I started to realize that a game creator could be used to make better things than text adventures. I enjoyed the "Adventure Construction Kit" from Electronic Arts for a while (around age 13 maybe -- still using an Apple-Compatible). Finally at age 25 (last year) I released The Scrolling Game Development Kit. My latest project is always kind of my "dream project" I guess... I used to just strive to make a side-scroller, now a side-scroller creator. What''s next? Maybe I''ll finally give in to 3-D pressure and make some sort of 3-D game *without* all the shooting nonsense . I once made a game (for Amiga) called "Ancient Arena of Power" that came in 2 phases. The first was to work your way through the arena (2-D fighting, mixed with RPG elements). The second was to get out of a 3-D dungeon, finding gems and fighting (the same) monsters and using keys on the way. My brother really liked that for some reason... maybe I''ll inspire myself with that idea .

BTW, I think Final Fantasy is my favorite series of games too.

I think I''m in the same boat as you. A few years ago, when me and a couple of my friends decided that we wanted to get into game development, we created an idea for this awesome FPS game, which I guess is our main goal as a team.
That''s always been my dream. To make an awesome 3D FPS that people will love to play. So now, as I code my way up to the basics, I find time to design a few aspects of my "dream".
