I’ve also had positive experience with Nendo (sorry don’t know the link ).

Nendo
Regarding Strata and bugginess: I''ve been having a problem where my computer (Win98 FE, PIII 550, 256 MB Ram, TNT2) hard locks when opening the project window if there is an open document, and usually if there is no open document. If there is no open document, adding more than one object or doing anything complicated in the Project Window makes it lock up anyway. When the Project Window locks up, the client area is not redrawn; it remains white, and the computer, like I said before, hard locks. This makes Strata useless for animation. Any ideas?

Don''t leave out anim8or, its free and quite easy, with plenty of tutorials.

what about bryce? ive been using it for a while and i also have truespace. truespace is horrible in my opinion.
I would have to recommend Nendo. Interface is very easy, you could learn to use it in 2 hours. In a week you would feel like the pro. It's very limited: no animation, piss-poor UV mapping, no lofting, no rendering, there's only 3d view, almost no advanced features (except very powerful smoothing). But it does low-poly models like no other . Modeling feels more like working with clay, very intuitive. All models are "solid-geometry" (I think that's how it's called) it's somewhat hard to explain, but it means that your models will have to be closed ( no lose vertices, no one sided polys). It is very simple, yet fastest and most powerful (in my opinion) low-poly modeler. Much better than Milkshape just a 100 bucks.

P.S. Don't even try Strata it's no-good.

...You cannot made texture using paintbrush (puaaaaj)...
If you are good enough you can easily do textures in paint. Also paint can be good for pixel art if you are making sprites. The only thing that Photoshop and all that stuff really has over paint is the filters. Unless you are doing something that takes 1000+ filters, you can still do it (most of the time) in Paint if you are good but it will take a while to plot random dots

Nope, paint don''t have layers.. In my case i don''t use filters.. (or a little), but the use of layers and many brush will made the difference.
And paint don''t have Magic Wand!.

Let''s hear it from all the fans!! MAYA-MAYA-MAYA...yes 3dmax is nice, but Maya is just so...so..special! Plus maya''s mel scripting system is in my opinion the best.
NECRO-NECRO-NECRO!!

Does anyone know if that guy ever actually finished his article? Couldn''t find it..
