Dysgraphia (difficulty at handwriting)
Wiki page
Describes me exactly.
I can read very quickly, as well as touch-type. I can even draw portraits.
But my writing is painfully slow. I have to draw every letter consciously, constantly watching the pen, no matter the practice (stark contrast with touch-typing which is entirely automatic for me despite being supposedly "harder"). That results in about 2x to 3x slower handwriting than normal, and that's a lot of difference. The worst part of it is just how extremely distracting and exhausting it is to keep even at 1/2 normal speed, and impact it had on school performance.
Anyone else here suffers from this?
Interestingly enough, I recently changed my handwriting style slightly. The way I shape and form letters has changed. I did it by pretending that I was back in first grade, learning how to draw letters perfectly. I spent a bit of extra time and effort to relearn how to shape a few selected letters to improve legibility.
After a few days of use, my new letter usage ("e" and "r") have changed and become automatic. It seems to say that penmanship style is not a permanently imprinted trait like I once thought it was. If I can change my handwriting, then any handwriting analysis to match handwritten documents with people is suspect.

yeah! Although, I've never felt pain while writing and I can communicate very effectively with both type and handwriting. I'd like to think that the reason my handwriting is so awful is that I type much more often. But who knows.. =\

Are you left-hand? In SU a stupid teachers sometimes forced a left-hand children to use right arm,it may cause partial disgraphia.I can write quickly of couse (but relatively short time, later I begin to feel discomfort), and prefer left arm when throw something. The most interesting result of such education (=violence) -I can write using both hands at the some time, with normal speed (even make a signature ) ,and my left hand write "reflected in mirror" letters from right to left.In mirror this text, writen by left hand ,looks almost normal...
In short,relax-your case is not the most hard[smile]
ive never heard of this condition but now that i think about it I think i have a mild form of it. I hate writing, i find it stressful, my hand writing sucks and my hand/arm gets very tense when doing it. However when i was 10 my hand writing was beautiful but slow, when i went to highschool i had to write fast and my handwriting deteriorated. My handwriting has been getting worse every year because i type most stuff.
i am also left handed at some tasks.

Same here. I can barely read my own hand writing but I don't have any problems with other fine motors skills (I play the guitar quite well). People always ask me why can't I write well and I keep telling them that doing so requires me an endless amount of inhuman concentration. And I'm (mostly) left handed too.
