Thanks for report.... I'll investigate. It looks like
background shader failed to compile or compiled incorrectly, so it drew green background. Also vertex attribute thing probably causes jerky motion of bullets. I pass old position as vertex attribute to shader, to interpolate between frames. Physics works at constant frame rate.
I'll release version with better logging soon.
My space shooter (WIP) - now with Mac OS X support
Fixed some issues, re-download from links in op.
It saves logging to log.txt now (cout and cerr redirect), if there is any problem, please put log.txt on pastebin.com and post a link here. (Or post it here as

if it isn't too long). I made it display each error message no more than 100 times, so log size should be reasonable.edit: whoops, editing failed or something. The current version is 2009-02-19-4

Looks good no technical issues from my end. 1 complaint though your control schemes feels odd and distracts from the game. I would use the same control scheme as Descent 3.
I was influenced by the Ghetto you ruined.
What are controls of descent 3? In my case mouse emulates joystick (flight simulator style). I can make FPS-style mouse as option.
I get SUPER LAG. This is with a reasonably up-to-date Nvidia and 1GB of RAM, by the way. What kind of crazy specs does this thing run at?
Dulce non decorum est.
Works fine for me except when I look at the star. If I look almost directly at it a big transparent square appears over it.
square: screenshot would be helpful.
Works just fine on my nVidia 9800gt , over 200 fps at 1680x1050 (development version with vsync disabled, the release caps to your display rate), and was reported to work on geforce 8600 .
Do you get super lag right away or just when there is a lot of explosions (those are unoptimized)?

I see, the issue was not with controls , but for some reason the game is not receiving mouse movements from my logitech track ball. It works fine when I use another mouse. Other than that it looks good, good job =)

Very nice, i had no problems actually running and playing game (spent a good 20 minutes playing). however, when i tried to exit, it crashed and vista with a very unhelpful message (the <application> has stoped working..)
Other than that, very nice.
In particular i enjoyed the effects when you destroy the red things (i cant remember the name of that effect) and the text glow, nice..
Controls are ok, and imaginative, but the make the game feel very "casual" if you know what i mean, where as, a big space war is not casual..
Keep up the good work! [smile]
EDIT: Nothing in the dump file, and nothing in the console(just says CleanExit!) on those errors.

The Linux version doesn't work for me. It immediately exits with the following error:
Calling init.
./Polynomial32: symbol lookup error: ./Polynomial32: undefined symbol: glClampColorARB
System:
AMD64 3200+
ATI Radeon HD 4830
