drawing pad help
I recently bought a wacom gfx tablet and am having trouble getting textures to look how I want them :/ idk if I'm using the wrong brushes,opticity,techniques,ect... Are there any tutorials out there that cover everything on gfx tablets cause I'm feeling like I've gotten any better at them in the past couple months.
How do you want textures to look and how are they ending up looking? Images would be helpful in trying to figure out specific advice.
But in general just look up anything having to do with 'digital painting', like 'digital painting tutorials' or something. You should be able to find some useful material. Maybe look into advanced brush settings, like attaching pen pressure to different attributes for certain effects, using dual brush, etc.

oh I didn't know there was a way to set up pen pressure settings. Do I adjust that with the software it came with or is it setup in photoshop ?
'Texture' usually means a pattern fill, probably tiling... that's not what you meant by textures, is it? Because that has nothing to do with a tablet...
Can you get it to look the way you want with a mouse and just having trouble with the tablet? Or do you just not know how to achieve a look you want regardless of input device?

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.
sorry for not making my question clear. I was trying to find some tutorials that would explain how to make a texture look more detailed and realistic rather than smudgy and not so realistic like my textures are now :/
You MUST download the drivers off the web page. I had used the pad with only the CD Drivers and noticed that pressure wasn't working so great, along with the other features until I went and downloaded the latest driver update.
If you're using photoshop, which I'm guessing you are, it should auto adjust to your pad. It's a benefit to know quite a bit about the brush features in photoshop to get full advantage of the features of your new pad.
There are many ways to make good textures. One way is to just do your drawing and make a custom brush with that texture and apply it. Google has a world of tutorials for photoshop, however some you might come across wont exactly be of any use for you. There are too many garbage tutorials out there.
