I looked for a beginners board, I really did Anyways, am thinking of fooling around and creating some small little games for educational use. What is one of the easier genres to start off with? I love RPGs but the things are massive What about RTS a la Starcraft or even turn based games? Slighty easier? If so, are there any engines or pre made maps/tutorials anywhere to get a start with?
I think the easiest (and more fun) games to program are retro-games. Pong, tetris, pacman, etc. Just a simple game. You''ll have too many headaches with an rts or rpg. Heck Ive been doing this for almost 4 years and Im still just barely getting through my Turn Based Strategy game.

Yes I''ve dabbled in small games like Tetris and even small hockey simulators, enjoyed it quite a bit

So you''ve takena couple years for your RTS? How is it looking? What did you write it in?
