Does anyone know out of the 2,000 forums where people talk about 3d modeling and Maya, any with high activity? Even the official Area forums have less than 3 posts a day :( I am going too long with lots of questions and can't get anywhere.

You can suggest they make a 3D modeling and Maya forum in GDNet Comments, Suggestions and Ideas.

cgtalk.com is incredibly active. There are a number of people on these forums who would be more than willing to help you as well. Admittedly, it is a bit hard to answer some questions that might be specific to Maya 6 because it is several years old now, but the majority of the basics haven't really changed.
