There's Inside DirectX and DirectX Complete. Microsoft Press does Inside DirectX. I'm not sure who does DirectX Complete. A search on Amazon should find it. I think they both only cover up to DX5. There are some books coming out on DX7 within the next couple of months.

Aaargh! @#$@!@* Where are the matches? I want to burn this book! Sorry, I had to get that out of me. Direct Draw is a pain in the butt to learn. I liked learning OpenGL better. Who knows Direct Draw and can suggest some tutorials or books and don't say LaMothe!!

I have Inside DirectX AND DirectX Complete...personally I prefer Inside...but both are ok...and I ALWAYS buy 2 or more books to help seperate out author opinions and his personal habits from the REAL meat of the subject. BTW DirectDraw isn't very hard once you get the first few steps figured out...but Direct3D on the other hand.

If you have a particular DirectDraw question...add it to this thread...and I will try to answer it within a day or two...or e-mail it to: rationalmonkey27@yahoo.com and I will respond ASAP. also...if you can tell me what stage your stuck on...I'd be glad to give some advice.

First piece of advice...don't bother enumerating display devices while your learning, just use the default. Later you can add this feature to the beginning of your setup code without changing any other areas at all.
