How do you use hardware acceleration with opengl?

Is it only for 3dfx cards or can you use cards like the creative TNT2 ultra?

If your video card is less than 2 years old then I'm sure there's an OpenGL driver for it.

You don't have to specify to use hardware with OpenGL, if you have a driver for it then your program will use it and the hardware.
