Is Earth 2025 proof that text games can be fun?

I know it's a little old, but I decided to play Earth 2025. I didn't know what to expect and found it was all text based. No fancy graphics, nothing. There's ads. That's it. And, well, the game. I think the game is fun. Is there a place for text based or minimal eye candy games like Earth 2025 on the Internet? Thanks.
Yes. There's still a place for play-by-[e]mail games, even. It may not be a large, high-profile place - it may even be horribly obscure - but there is one.

Check out some of the augmented reality games like Casablanca. Despite the video on the front page, the actual game appears to be all text.

Is earth 2025 the only text game left?

Heck no. Planetarion (user pays IIRC), Ferion, Dominion, Utopia (another Swirve game) to name a few I've had experience with over the years. I found them fun back then, when I could be bothered to log in at the right time to build things.

I'm sure there are many many more (including ones where the user pays directly, not just through ads).
Warbook is/was pretty popular on Facebook (it's like Utopia).

I've been playing Utopia for 3 years now. It's a great game if you can find a good kingdom.

Lots and lots of text based games out there. Now finding a good one, that's a bit more difficult. heh.
