Massive Alternative
Hi,
i am a independent film dev. As you know we are not on the budgets like universal and momentum pictures.
I am trying to create a greek battle of marathon and i have researched for AI battle software. I stumbled along massive which was used in the 300 and in Lotr.
Its abit out of my budget does anyone know of a cheaper or even free simialar piece of software?
Cheers
Ben

Nice topic, hope there will be some answers. I'm interested in a free solution as well :)

That is the only thing close I have in my bookmarks, but don't get too excited. I doesn't look quite "ready for prime time" and I was hesitant to even post it - figuring someone must know of something better. I have not actually used it myself. Maybe if it got some active developement it could become something awesome.

Quote: BlenderPeople development is on hiatus while I am writing my book. Development will resume in the Summer of 2008. I’ve had a number of requests for step-by-steps about getting BP running, and requests for personal service. Due to my writing schedule, I can’t give personal service right now. Also, the documentation is complete as of the latest version and contains a step-by-step simple startup. If you can’t get it working from that, I just don’t have time to help you get it going. Sorry for the inconvenience, but 1) 0.8 release and 2) free.
One of the science channels on TV (History Channel, National Geographic, or some other) used the Total War engine for some historic battle visualization. I have no idea if it can be used for machima out-of-the-box, or if they used a special version. It's bound to be cheaper anyway, though :)

That was decisive battles I believe. Time commanders in the BBC in the U.K. used the Total War engine too.
