texture compression?!

how i make a texture using a specific comression format in opengl like direct3d?! thanks in advance

NitroGL: I dont want a library , i want to know how to make that into my engine, right now, my direct3d port work fine but the opengl one compression is not working...
You don''t need GLUT, it is just there to keep the Windows Specific code hidden from you.
