fraid not. I''m from about as far from brisbane as you can get while still being on the mainland (not far from perth).
and unfortunately you have your exchange rate around the wrong way. $0.5US = $1AU
If he was working for $20,000 australian...
what is salary for game programmer?
I''ve seen a few figures in here, and some places, austrailia, US, but does anyone know what an average salary would be for a game programmer based in the UK?
If at first you don't succeed, redefine success.
I work for a non-game company in the uk writing java and c++. I''m on ~£28000 ($42000)with 2 years experience. I think I could up this a fair bit if I moved but that''s life.

Game programmers (heck, any C,C++,etc. programmers) can expect to earn from 30k to 115k.
Now, the 65-115k ones are project leads, not "just" coders. Of course, you can go well above 115k if you move into a multi-project lead role(which means no time for coding.)
Just my two cents worth from hiring people for the last five years.

I live in Canton & work in Plymouth; permanent position with the standard benefits. You gotta have some sorta experience other HS to pull in $50; I'm willing to bet you're older than 20.

Did Lost Logic make Ascendancy?

That's gotta be an internship, unless the employer provides room & board.

- The trade-off between price and quality does not exist in Japan. Rather, the idea that high quality brings on cost reduction is widely accepted.-- Tajima & Matsubara
Magmai Kai Holmlor, I think you are getting confused...
Programmers here work for an average of $50k with 2 years of experience, which is about $25k US.
And most of the Aussie coders are not from Brisbane, they are from Sydney or Melbourne.

Yes! There are kangaroos in Australia but I haven't seen them...yet
Magmai,
The only experience, other then HS, is 1.5 years as a computer tech support. Got my first programming job at 22 making a whopping $25k a year. I just turned 25 now, so you are right, I''m much older than 20. However, if I was smart I would have tried for a programming position much earlier, instead of waiting so long... sigh.

UK games jobs site
unfortunately most jobs are NEGotiable or DOE (???) but sometimes there are salaries quoted, and hey, it''s quite interesting to see how spoilt the brits are with game dev studios when compared to Australia.
