Over the last few months I've been shifting my development across from my PC desktop to my MacBook Pro laptop, to the point now where I pretty much use the laptop for everything. For general work I'm finding the MBP to be a nice development machine, with the ability to be mobile coming in handy. However I'm finding the lack of USB ports to be a bit of a nuisance when it comes to game development. The laptop has two USB ports, and I'm rapidly increasing the number of gadgets I'd like to plug in. At the moment I have to juggle between the external mouse, the USB hard drive, Intuos graphing tablet, MIDI keyboard, scanner, digital camera, and gamepad so that only two are plugged in at any one time. Plus the cables can get very annoying when I've got a collection of these on my desk. I'm thinking of starting to use Bluetooth versions of the more common of these devices. I don't think it'll be too difficult to find a Bluetooth mouse; I'm pretty sure there's a few stores around here that sell a Logitech version. However I was wondering if there were any Bluetooth gaming peripherals that are useful for laptops and/or game development. I've never been too happy playing or testing games with the keyboard; the arrow keys are a bit tiny, and it doesn't feel right mashing the keys on the MacBook Pro. It would also be a boon when travelling; I've got a pretty slim gamepad that works well, but a wireless model would be a lot easier. Does anyone have some recommendations for Bluetooth gamepads or joysticks?

No recommendations so far - I take it that Bluetooth gamepads are somewhat uncommon then?

well i just got mine MBP acouple of weeks ago. I would suggest getting one of these usb adapters. they can come in handy alot. I never tried them on the MBP thou, but i'm guessing they would work out fine, don't know why they don't work. You can tell me if they work out nicely or not :D

wirelless. looks good. but..
i tryed a cheap version which was supported just for 30cm~?+cable ~0.5m .
and that keyboard and mouse are on garbage.
they was cheap versions of logitech .
they needs batteries ,sometimes they forces you to push some buttons/restart pc.
this was horrible expirence for me and now i'm using extended cables.
now i dont care about keyboards.anything looks ok
you should hawe some extra or good batteries for moving.
wireless is not easy as it looks like.
may be just fome .
and infrared is slow for gaming but bluetooth may be fast enough.or some versions.

How about getting a small USB hub for all the stuff you don't lug around? Plug the tablet, MIDI keyboard, and similar devices into the hub, and plug the hub into the laptop.

I know the PS/3 controllers are Bluetooth, but I don't think there's a driver for Windows or Mac OS X.

Now I've got a Bluetooth mouse, the USB port issue isn't as severe; it's rare I need three USB devices as well as a mouse.

I'm still keeping my eye out for a nice Bluetooth gamepad, as it would be a good addition to my portable kit of devices I lug around with my laptop. It'd have to be thin enough to fit in my laptop bag, however.

One would think that the gaming industry would have jumped on the bluetooth bandwagon by now, but I guess the technology and/or demand isn't there yet.

I suppose someone could write a driver for a PS/3 sixaxis controller, as it's Bluetooth. But my guess is that controllers, in themselves, are fairly niche for PC games, so a Bluetooth controller is even smaller.
The Bluetooth controllers I've found on line have all been for playing games on handhelds. Given that they are HID devices, perhaps those will work for a PC, too?
