Hello, I have just recently started to learn 3dsmax, actually since yesterday( but don't let that fool you). I am more or less having a technical issue with 3ds max, it is a control issue, more specifically the MMB (Middle Mouse button). I have spend hours researching and troubleshooting the issue before resorting to asking anyone else for help (a common practice).Simply put, my MMB is not working within 3ds Max. When I say not work, it simply does not do anything. I am using a razer death adder for my mouse hardware, my drivers are installed ( I reinstalled just to make sure it was not a driver issue). I am running Windows Vista 64 bit edition and in respect to running 64 bit so is my version of 3ds max. If you are acquainted with 3ds max's view port navigation controls you know that the MMB when pressed, activates the PAN View control. another function is the Arc Rotate ( when holding ALT, press the MMB). These functions are very useful when modeling and I would be very grateful if someone could assist me. Thank you. //edit I would also like to point out that when using a web browser the MMB functions work for that specific application., I have not really came across any other application that uses the MMB.

Well couple of weeks ago my middle mouse button was switching to the next window when i press it :).
It turned out to that someone changed the action of the middle mouse button from the application for the mouse.It was a standart microsoft optical mouse.Maybe you have an application that changes the middle mouse buttons action.Also check the options in 3dsmax it was under customizeUI I guess.

Thank you for your reply, I have already checked both, 3ds max is default .. I still checked it even though I just installed it. My razer DeathAdder mouse is all set at defaults, the MMB in the DeathAdder driver is set to "universal Scrolling"(default) yet it still works for specific tasks in web browsers as a MMB when pressed. So.. no luck yet :(

Okay, **UPDATE** . I fixed my problem! lol, after someone from another forum suggested to uninstall the drivers and do not install any and it worked. lol... razer drivers = evil. Let this be a lesson to anyone who has this issue.

My Logitech sometimes has a similar problem. The way I get around it is I go into the button configuration and set it to "Generic Button" instead of "Universal Scroll". That way it actually acts as a middle mouse button rather than a "gosh, I hope it works" macro.
