While I'm coloring something in photoshop the colors look great, but when I save my work to a JPG the colors become really poor in quality. I always save in 12 quality so it should not do that. What can I do to fix this? Here are 2 pictures of what I mean. Picture 1: Screenshot while working in Photoshop. Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us Picture 2: Saved worked as JPG Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us I get the same problem when I save as PNG Thanks [Edited by - Cuajin on August 18, 2007 11:48:44 AM]
i also recently got cs3 extended myself, however i have not seen this problem. anyway you can send me the .psd file to metalgearsolido8 @ hotmail.com (without the spaces obviously).
from comparing the photoshop screenshot and the saved jpeg image i can see that the colors are indeed the same, just a bit darker when you save it. i'll see if this is because of your file setup if you send the .psd file.

Email sent.
it must be a problem with your photoshop or with how you're saving the file. i opened the .psd, saved to jpeg, opened jpeg, overlaped it over the .psd and varied transparency to find any difference, and they were identical.
anyway you cna give multiple screencaps of the stages of saving the file?
i was going to suggest deleting the config file for photoshop, but i can't seem to find where they put it in cs3.

everything looks fine there... my only other suggestion would be to hunt down where adobe put the config file(s) and delete them so you can reset your photoshop settings. i also just double checked your .psd file and still haven't found anything unusual about it, yet the first two pictures you gave did have a change in brightness for no apparent reason.
though one question i do have, is if you saved the gear as a jpg and it messed up the color, then why did it not mess up your screencap, which i assume was also saved in photoshop? lol, i'm confused!

uncheck the ICC Color Profile dialogue box at the bottom of the Save As window. I think it is swapping color profiles.

Didn't fix it.

I would say it's a quality of JPEG because the final image is less vibrant, and JPEG doesn't handle reds very well, but you said you also get this problem with PNG. I suggest disable your color profile (Edit | Color Settings... | Settings: -> Color Management Off) or turn off proofing (View | Proof Colors -> uncheck). This should give you accurate results in the workspace, though I have in the past noticed anomalies even with color management and proofing disabled. Photoshop is weird like that.
