Crappy browser...

I downloaded the IE6 "Public Preview" from Windows Update, and it''s terrible. To start with, the Windows Me full version was only 11 MB, not the 75 MB for Windows 2000, so the download took less than an hour. I''ve been using it for several days; it hasn''t crashed once! Not even one little crash. The most harmful bug I could find is that some of the new windows aren''t drawn very well. On top of all that, it runs faster and does more... What kind of beta software is it?!

Amen, Muzzafarath. Since version 5 was released I''ve been using Opera as my primary browser and the recent 5.10 release has locked in that position. I thought it was fast before, but I''ll be damned if the new document window management code hasn''t pulled it even further ahead of the pack. IE feels like such a fat, bloated hog in comparison. I just started playing with the mouse gesture stuff and it''s very cool.
...

It''s called sarcasm.
Yeah, why use IE6 for free when you can have adware like Opera?
Have you actually *used* Opera (version 5+)? Adware or not, it''s the best browser out there now IMHO. Smaller, faster, more convenient than IE.

And yes, I got the sarcasm.

Yep, I downloaded it three times this afternoon and had to reload their "Opera 5" page twice because their server timed out. It seems to be about as fast as IE6, if you disregard Opera''s ability to cache pages instead of reloading them.

Have you actually *used* IE6?
Yes, used IE6 plenty. Obviously Opera can''t make pages download faster, the speed increases are found in basically the entire user interface and, as you said, bringing up cached pages nearly instantly.
