Is this map hand made or tiled?
Please, can anyone tell me if this map is hand made or is formed by tiles?? I can't see how build a map like this using tiles, it seems to have a lot of tiles, and there are some height levels (smooth)

It could have been hand drawn and then split up into tiles. There are plenty of tilemap editors (free and professional) that have that feature.

If not the above, it could be a randomly generated heightmap, rendered with a default ground texture and 'smart' texture splatting.
KG_Brad, please, could you explain the utility of having a handmade map split into tiles if you are going to use the complete map? Thanks for the answer :)
Visage, I'm sure (not 100%) this map is 2D, not 3D generated terrain with heightmap file. It's a 2D game. But if it can be done in 2D too, I'm interested in that!!

There's a tilemap editor called Mappy and it has that feature. It's really good and it's free too.
Here's the site: http://www.tilemap.co.uk/mappy.php
Open Mappy and create a new map. Then, click on "MapTools" and go to the "Useful Functions" menu. Click on "Create Map from Big Picture". It will then split your hand drawn map into tiles.
Good luck!
