Support of databases in games
Hey guys!!!
I got this small little group assignment entitled "Support of databases in multimedia application", and since I''m interested in games, I''ve narrowed the scope of "multimedia application" to just simply "games".
Do you guys have any articles on this subject? I was looking all over on the Internet, and I just don''t have much luck. If you all want to contribute your two cents about the subject, then go ahead! I''m really looking forward to opinions
Thanx a lot, everyone.

Whilst not strictly "multimedia", you could look at things such as the online web browser-based games (e.g. www.empirequest.com, www.ImperialConflict.com, and so on..., a lot of which use mySQL as their database backend. (hmmm, text is a media, as are images, so they are multimedia I guess...)
Anyway, I'm sure Westwood uses some sort of database for Westwood online's ranking systems and the like, so you could investigate there I guess.
Good luck with your "quest" E=O)

Waassaap!!
what about using a database in a game to store everything a player does in a game and find certian tendencies ovr a period of time, then let the bots use this database and list of tendencies to become "smarter" and play more effectively against the player. This might be a bit too much if this is just a small poject, but it''s just an idea.
part of an article here talks briefly about databases in games.

Does anyone knows a lib to read MySQL files w/o the MySQL serveur? Or any other database format?
