I just got my PocketPC (Casio EM500, 400 bucks, 16mb, 16bit colour, nice speakers) last night, and I am very very impressed. It''s better than I thought it''d be. I''d been developing for the past few days with the emulator, and I''m curious, how many other people are out there on these boards devving for it? ------------------------------- Follow the orange rabbit. I have an ipaq myself... it would be great to do some development on it but o far I have played around with eVB and thats it.. I know there is easyCE which looks really great for writing games, its especially written for it and some people have done a 3d engine and voxel engine in it.

gx programming looks fun, there aren''t many calls to make so it kind of simplifies it in a way. The pocketPC scene has just exploded round about now, now the emulators and pocketQuake are out people are taking notice and some of the games announced within the last week or two look great.

I have no experience with eVC++ but I know there are differences and the pocketpc api is different too, hang on did you read the article posted here? Just keep in mind us Ipaq owners and our lack of buttons

Heh. Should''ve gotten a Casio
Most of my games are probably going to be pretty button-intensive (I''m devving exclusively for the PocketPC now), but we''ll figure out something for you poor deprived iPaq-ers.

Oh, and, eVC++ is VERY nice.
i did some Win CE development at work, basically we wrote an API wrapper and used our own custom drawn controls and such, we could do networking too, but no games...

not quite true actually, one of the guys made a little snake game

and you can''t believe your eyes when you play quake on it!
I think it''s odd that there are far more companies and such developing apps for the PocketPC as opposed to games. If you think about it, the PocketPC is the perfect games platform, but it just seems not many people are capitalizing on it?
Well compare it to a GBA and its not...

Compare it to a GBA and it is. I had that same argument with Evaclear, and neither of us came out the winner.
No but the second word in its name: PC

Thats what it is really a multiple purpose device, hopefuly the next generation of pocket pc will have the speed and controls to be agreat games machine. At the moment we have either bad controls, compaq or slow cpu, casio and hopefully the next thing to come out will be able to satisfy these. Hey I just repeated myself!
