Ok, I am currently designing an MMORPG which is highly pvp oriented. I have four races each with eight classes: Humans, Demons, Angels, and Ancients(robots) Now in this game each race has what is called a "second form", like the angels have "Angelic Aura" which has a different effect on the angel depending on what class they are. Now I wanted the player to earn this "second form" instead of just hitting a lvl and BAM they are godlike...and that is how this "second form" will be seen as (similar to the bankai of bleach for all of you anime watchers out there) I was thinking something like "in order for an angel to gain angelic aura, they must slay 1000 demons(players)" is something like that too much for a player to shoot for? I was also thinking about having the ancients travel the "world" and find satelite points, which are guarded by powerful creatures or other powerful ancients to gain their second form "Omega Matrix" any ideas? Criticisms? Dont be shy to beat me down ^^

First ir depends on how strong the second form is if such high trials are appropriate.
Second basically what it comes down to are quests to earn skills/abilities right?
Third based on how strong the death penality is and assuming that the demons quests is to kill 1000 angels as an angel I would just get together with some demons and say: If you let me kill you I will let you kill me.(fair trade)

As a hardcore pvper your idea worries me because of the difficulty in balancing so many variables. With four races, eight classes, and with two different forms .. that's 64 combinations to balance if you want to keep them all useful and fair.

Another thing that concerns me is this "second form". Depending on how often someone in the first form can confront someone in the "second form" may lead to some frustration if the second form really does give godlike abilities. I know that if I became a godlike angel, I would definitely hang out in the areas where people are trying to earn their second form because I know they don't have it yet and one-shot them all to death.

Making an even ground of competition in mmos is very important if you want to attract (and keep) pvpers like myself playing your game.
