Lunasol, you really should take a world economics class before you get the notion of "all ideas should be public property" too firmly implanted in your head. It sounds great in theory, but doesn''t work worth squat in the real world. Far too many "open source" advocates seem to conveniently ignore this reality though, unfortunately. Either that or they really haven''t stopped to think of the serious repercussions such an ideal would entail if actually implemented. Basically, unless you''re sure you can change human nature (good luck, and let me know when you''re done =P), I''d suggest rethinking your apparent belief that everything should be shared.

On a side note, please understand that I''m not attacking you personally, just the driving belief behind the open source movement. =) Having been a programmer for over a decade, I obviously have nothing against those who willingly and generously share their code/concepts/techniques/etc. However, I''m also pragmatic enough to realise that if every programmer was expected (by society) to share their time and expertise, the entire software industry would most likely collapse and we''d all spend our days sitting around wishing there was actually something to run on our new terahertz machines.
