Hi, I''m quite new to Linux, how do I log on as a super user in X mode; Gnome or KDE? In text mode, you type in "su" and then log on right, how to do in the GUI?

su in an xterm, or login as root. Don''t ask for a graphical su.
Hello from my world
i don''t know about gnome, but kde2 has a nice feature that will ask you for the root password if you try to launch a program that requires root access. But for the most part you can open and xterm, su, then run any program (even graphical ones) from that command line.
Actually, you might not be able to connect to the X display as root, depending on the setup.

And the KDE2 feature is nice. Plus, when you start a program via Alt+F2 in KDE2, you can ask for it to be run as a different user too.
