modern game designing course or multimedia course?
I live in the UK near portsmouth.
I am currently between deciding to go to Teeside - a computer game focused university that is very far away from my family or Sussex - a more multimedia focused university that is very close to home.
Both courses will teach me how to program and how to use video, graphics and sound programs. Teeside will naturally be more focused on games however. I have played games since I was of a very young age and play to a competitive level - I assumed that this meant that a career in computer games was the sensible thing to do, however this is not for certain (things change over time) and therefore I would like to keep my options open as much as possible without shutting off anything by keeping myself too broad in my skill range.
The real question here is "to what extent do computer games companies value their entrance level candidates being educated at a games orientated uni?"
You have to use a number of factors in making your decision - not only "industry creds." See FAQs 25, 34, and 44
