=Character Modeling for Games Video Tutorials= Video 3: Creating a Base Model Image Hey everybody! I decided to create some free video tutorials helping people learn how I go about creating a game model. I figured I'd post them here as I make them, considering this is a site on making games :). I've finished the third video tutorial (This is the first one done. I have to go back and finish the other two). The video deals with making the base model for your game character (that will be used for sculpting). Here are the video details: Encoded with XviD 1 hour 5 minutes long 740 MB in file size Download (left click) Simply open the link, and right click "save file/target as" the link called "Unknown" (under play/download on the left hand side). Hope you guys learn something from this! P.S. - In this video I don't go over the basics in 3ds max. I'm working on that right now, and that will be the second video tutorial. The first being one teaching to color your concept art.
exellent, thanks, i'm sure i cna pickup a few new tricks from this vid. and the final model is not too bad either. rating++
and i look forward to your concept art coloring one as that is an area where i've been trying to learn recently. here is my first attempt at drawing and coloring concept art but i've been wanting to learn a technique that isn't as heavily reliant on lines for the shading. is your method going to be more of a painting type method?

Not exactly. I'm not a brilliant painter myself, so the only reason I color the concept is to get an idea of the colors I want to use on the textures. After the coloring tutorial, this is what you end up with:

Not great (or even good for that matter), but It's only purpose is to help you out with choosing colors for you character. No one will be seeing this anyways :).

should still be useful though, look forward to it. and i am nearly done downloading your first vid. for others, use dap, download accelerator pro, if you can, it really helps cutdown on the time it takes, took it down to 30 min for me.
