Know any good 'sell on consignment'-type game sites?
Hello!
I hope this question hasn't been asked a million times, so please don't bash me if it has... Rather, link me to those threads please! [smile]
I dunno what they're called, but I've heard of some websites that will sell your game for you. They basically host webspace for your game, and they sell it for the amount you asked for, and they keep a percent for themselves. Some sites even rate your game, or allow other gamers to rate your games. When your game is sold, you get your money via PayPal or something like that. At least, I think that's how it works. [grin]
Would you recommend any of these types of sites where I can try to sell my game? My game is an Asteroids type platform game, with a few extras to make it different, and I'd like to sell it for about five bucks.
Thanks in advance for the info, I really appreciate it!

Cool! Thanks for the info, tsloper. You've been a big help!
Now all I need to do is get a 'demo' version whipped up, then try and pitch my game to some of these sites. Looks like most of the sites listed on Sloperama are looking for Flash-based games, and my game is a 2-D game written in Direct3D, so we'll see how much luck I have with it... Looks like I may have to learn a new programming language if I'm gonna keep writing casual games.
Thanks again!

Not all those sites deal exclusively in Flash. And you're not so much "pitching" as you are "submitting."
Edit.
To explain: a pitch is when you try to convince someone your idea is exciting and potentially profitable. You don't have to pitch yourself when you apply for a driver's license - you just have to meet the criteria (one of which is to pay the fee). Same thing with getting your game up on most of those sites. You just have to meet the criteria and agree to their terms. So pitching usually isn't involved.

Thanks for the clarification, tsloper.
Yeah, I'm looking for a place to submit my game... I guess I'm not really 'pitching' it. I don't have a website or any means of e-commerce, so i don't really have a way to sell my game myself. I'd just like to find a site that caters to indie game devs, and who would sell my game for a cut of the selling price.
After looking at some of the games on those sites, I wonder if there's even an audience for my game? All of those games are quite pretty and graphical, and mine is rather retro minimalistic and goofy. But it's a pretty fun time-waster, so I imagine a few people would enjoy it. At least, I hope! [grin]
