music guy wanted
Hi, my main game project is 84% complete. I need some music. I'm not asking specifically for new compositions, although if that's what you want, fine. If you are competent at finding the right sound tracks from the online freeware archives that's fine also. I think your cash payment will be a percentage of the sales. Description of game music desired. Themed music for a variety of events. like off square soft rpgs. e.g. suprise, confusion, comedy, sarcasm, mischief, relief, rejoice. At least 10 tracks Main background music Quite fast, positive. Although I'll need some others for special scary or sad times. Abit like wizkid amiga, or Unreal Tournament but less serious, or atomic bomberman, but slightly less frantic. Must be backgroundy as aposed to 'in your face' music. At least 8 tracks Music should be 16-bit retro style, roughly about snes standard. The game will be quite fast paced, with comedy sketch intervals. But I don't want 'silly' music like off early infogrammes amiga music like 'north and south'. I'll be scouting around for music and musicians these next few weeks [Edited by - meemoe_uk on March 21, 2007 5:01:44 AM]

Can you provide a little more information about your game? I might be able to make something thats right up your alley. I have a love for making old school music so let me know if I can do anything to help out.

Just to get an idea, you can check out some of my tracks here.

Yup, I could help out too. It looks like the complete music forumgoers are here for you xD.
Anyway, I'd lend a hand and compose a couple of the tracks if you need 'em, I'm quite into square enix (square 'soft' is só 1999[grin]) music.
Two of my latest pieces.

What do I expect? A young man's quest to defeat an evil sorceror while discovering the truth of his origins. A plucky youngster attended by her brutish guardian. A powerful artifact which has been broken into a small number of artifactlets distributed around the world. What do I want? Fewer damn cliches. - Sneftel
The following tracks on my site may prove useful as a demo for your scary music needs. In the Shadows, Haunted Mind, and Dark Corridor. Check the "media" page.

Hope you like what you hear! Check the news page for retro style music...it's light, "fluff" type stuff, but I'm sure I could do any other style in retro terms...
Thanks:)

Thanks for the responses everyone! I was very pleased to feel your enthusiasm for music, and williness to provide for the needy. I'll try to do feedback on each piece individually, but generally as of yet there have been very few pieces I'd consider correct for my game. Mostly because most of you have pointed me to your demo selection, which weren't selected for my game.
Sorry, I'm just going to change the specs a bit. I said 'casual' and 'easy listening', but that's not right. You see I find unreal tournament music sorta causual and easy listening, partly because Im so used to it, it just wafts smoothly in and out of the ears. But UT music ain't C&EL. Better descibed as racy-chasy adrenaline serious music.
Now I've decided UT and Atomic bomberman might be better reference points for the main themes I was looking for. With the pointers
- Less 'serious' than UT
- Not quite as fast paced and frantic as bomberman. But nearly.
