In addition to what Trapper Zoid (what a cool name!) said, also email me yourself various versions of the drafts. This way, in case your computer fails, your material is floating out there in cyber space. You can email both the MIDI files and MP3 files (which would keep it small enough for email, but prove that you were composing the theme).

I tend to stay away from just backing up the audio files, because one could argue that I just downloaded that from somewhere. If you have the MIDI files as well (especially various versions that show the growth of the piece) then it is pretty much a slam dunk.

The email would also provide a time table, which would further support you.

I hope that helps! I just updated my website, and I'd appreciate your thoughts. :)

Absolutely spiffing, wot wot! I save constantly when working on songs, so draft copies and handwritten notes will be no problem to produce. Would the creation date that's attached to files also suffice as evidence? In any case, the semi-worst possible scenario seems covered for now - I suppose nothing is ever guaranteed, though.

Thanks for the help! nsmadsen, I'll be listening to you pieces later today. For now, breakfast.
