3DS Max 9 Viewport problem

Just downloaded version 9 trial and the viewports/scene dont show- they just show my desktop's background or any other program picture?

whats your video card? what renderer did you choose and how did you configure it?

got it working now. is my graphics 64mb not good enough to use? do i need a really goone one. i dont want to start creating stuff and they render quality sucks.

ok... well to start off there is much to consider in a video than just the ram on it. do you know what the name of the card is?
as far as needing a good one goes, the video card helps with rendering in the viewport when modeling. so as long as you're not going to be doing any insane high poly modeling even a cheap video card will do, but of course things will be smoother with a faster card.
and lastly the actual quality of the render image itself is not bound by the cpu or video card. when rendering an image in 3ds max it is using only your cpu not your video card, however your cpu could be really bad or really good and the render will look the same. slower cpu's simply just increase the time it takes to render an image, not affect the quality.
