I am trying to setup a linux box as a router, right now I am working on a secure firewall. From what I have read iptables basicly controls the whole firewall. Before I started working on the firewall I got a DHCP server going. Now the problem is when I looked at my iptables it looked like this:

I did not see any rules for the UDP ports 67 and 68, yet the DHCP server still works. So to test I pulled out ports 50,51 and 631, also I removed icmp (i think that is ping requests). I left 22 because I connect using SSH. Then I removed the line with ESTABLISHED,RELATED because I have no idea what that does and that locked me out of ssh so I put that back. Now I have:

The problem is that DHCP still works, my assumption is that DHCP opens its own hole in the firewall but that sounds very unsecure. So im not sure why DHCP is still allowed to work?
