I'm working with XSI (Mod Tool, to be exact), and I have one problem which I guess stems from my relative ignorance of the tool. Basically, I want to set the name of the material applied to some mesh. I don't really care about actually editing that material, although the ability to do so will probably be there. I just want to be able to take an object and say, "This object has the material BumpyRustedMetal applied to it." BumpyRustedMetal is something my engine would know about at runtime, and not really any of XSI's business; I just want to be able to have the correct material name exported in the dotXSI file.

Sorry, but not many people use XSI; nevertheless, I'll try and help you out. I'll download the Mod Tool over the next few days and give it a look.
