what resolution and depth?
ive been doing the logic for my crpg and now im ready to have my artist start with the art but im not sure what resoltion my screen should be, how many pixels my bitmaps should be and how many colors to use!
now all i want are decent 2d iso graphics that will look ok and not send players running away screaming, so wit hthat in mind what are everybodys suggestions?
Generally pc games these days are written for a default resolution of 1024x768 with 32 bit color depth, I wouldnt go any lower for any game that is still in developement and wont be released for another year yet.
So you should design you game tiles so that you have about 15 tiles across the screen, but it depends on how big you want your units to appear, Age of empires has very small units and tiles, where as alpha centauri has much bigger tiles, with only about 12 across the screen.
