How would people feel about games, where you were stuck in a medium sized but diverse environment.. but that to complete the game you would have to keep revisiting & exploring areas of the game in a fairly non-linear fashion. Yet to keep it interesting there would be lots of change in the area & the tasks that you encountered within it. There would be many multi-solution puzzles that you would get the opportunity to encounter. Ie. You are in residential block of a city. With a police station, church & slum-area. You have to meet your contact at the church.. meanwhile a terrorist organisation bombs the police station, shattering the glass in the surrounding area.. blocking some paths with rubble, and opening others (previously impassable walls). etc. Also does the general trend in PC games to have lots of sequential levels point to a weakness in the design of the game.. ie. there isn't enough to keep the players entertained and occupied if they don't keep encountering new strategicaly positioned enemies in unfamiliar terrain. Which they can then fight and vanquish. In fact if handled well, such a changing environment could start off providing a simple and entertaining challenge. Which could then be made even more challenging. Edited by - Ketchaval on February 25, 2001 4:51:55 PM
