Afternoon. Bit new to the music and sound forum. I've had a look through the stickies but all seems a bit modern. I'm after some free wav format old Mario Bros/Sonic style music for a daft little platform game I'm writing. Anyone know of any good links? There's so much music on the web that anything I type into Google is returning absurd amounts of rubbish. Thanks for any help anyone can give me. If there are any bored computer musicians out there that would like to see some of their "throwaway" tunes put into a 2D scroller, please reply or PM me. Thanks. Paul
An option is to browse this music site, in the cat. game sound tracks (or other) and contact the artist if you find something right. artistserver

UGH! Waves are going to take a lot of system resources as far as storage is concerned. Personally I prefer tracker modules like those at Mod Archive. For a player for them you can use SDL_Mixer (if you're using SDL as your graphics library also), FMOD, ModPlug, or MikMod (used internally by WinAmp and SDL_Mixer). If you need links to these you should be able to find them in the stickies or in the alternative libraries forum.
Take your point, samuraicrow, but unfortunatley I am using DirectSound directly to play sounds in my games and I have no idea how to play anything except WAV files with that.

Thanks for all the above anyway.
