Greetings, I had recieved an email on May 1st from a game company representative after sending out my resume to them A YEAR EARLIER (May 2005). They asked if I had a game demo. Word is they have a new project coming up and they are looking for new developers. I am eager and want to take advantage of this. Currently I work on a high profile financial software project and work many hours, and I've tried to make time to finish up a demo I already have. The problem is that I've just finished cleaning up the demo, and it's been 3 weeks since they sent the email asking if I had one. I was going to send the demo off by tomorrow morning. I normally would have emailed them within the first week, but I had no demo to give, so I didn't do it. I didn't want to tell them I was still working on it. Do you think I've screwed up my chances with the company because I've waited about 3 weeks to send it to them? I know I should apologize for replying so late, but they have waited a whole year to contact me. Maybe they'll cut me a little slack since it's been that long. What do you think? And any recommendations on what to say? Any help will be appreciated :) -Malysha
Don't worry about it. If they're pissed that you took awhile to respond (which seems unlikely) then no apology or excuse in the world will change their mind. Just respond normally.

BTW, if you just emailed your resume to HR, it's normal for there to be a long delay like that. Basically, your resume and the other 500 resumes all went into a big pile, and then later when they had an opening they looked at the pile.

I agree with Sneftel. Go ahead and send it back in. Do not make excuses for lateness. Do not add disclaimers like "I know level 3 looks like hell, I'm not much of an artist heh" or anything. Just send it "normally" as Sneftel said.
