This is a great initiative! Especially the fact that some of the hardcore C guru's take some time to tutor the C++ newbie's :D

I just ordered my book at the local store, as it will take almost two weeks for Amazon to send it to the Netherlands. I hope I have it in time.

I have been wanting to freshen up my C++ knowledge for quite some time now, but I have never really took the time for it. I'm currently employed as a Java developer but I want to make the switch to Game Development.

I bought the book. Actually the best c++ book I've seen =D

I'm looking forward to this.

Yeah, I just bought and I have been looking through it. The focus in the beginning of the book is quite different than that of C++ for Dummies. In the For Dummies book, it went on for a few pages explaining variables, then when it came to more "advanced topics", it'd say "but don't worry about how that works, just know that it does."

Needless to say, I am happy with this purchase. (So far...)
Today's almost over and then...

Only 5 more days until the C++ Workshop...

I'm interested. I'll see if I can convince my parents to make this book my graduation present. Hopefully, they'll be able to get a copy from a store, so I will have a chance to glace through it before the official start date.

no offense here oilers - but you must be broke for you not to have enough money to buy this book - i got it on amazon for like $3 including shipping - and if you go to a used bookstore there is a very good chance they have it.
---------

anyway, i'm joinin in - i've always wanted to learn c++ :) :)

I'm worse than broke. I'm going to be a college student soon. Oh, the joys of student loans!

Besides, the stingier I am, the more money I have for the launch of the Wii. :)

But it's all settled. I'm getting the book tomorrow. I'll probably glance through it before June 1st.
I wish I knew what I was doing.

This is sorta off topic...but you all have been so supportive of me and my workshop that I thought I'd share my tragedy with you...

Me and my Bowflex got in a fight....I lost. I've spent the last 3 hours in the ER. You can read the story on my GDNet+ Journal Here.

Cheers!

Bowflex fights back.
Classic.
Is there a way of just listening to the instructions and not actually buying a book because i am in debt of about $110?
