I need some help...
I'm currently in the process of beginning development on a project I have in mind. I have a few places for public recognition whereas I can acquire the proper development team, although I'm sure you all know that in order to attract attention you need some kind of candy. That, my friends, is where I need the help!
I may know how to write and get any reader involved in the story, however I have no clue as to what the project could be based upon! I've had an idea or two but after much thought put forth, I don't know if I like them enough to dedicate myself to them.
Anywho, I don't want to beat around the bush, so, if you have any ideas at all about a game you might want to play, please let me know! I'm not asking at all for you to do any bit of writing and in fact urge you not to. I simply need some ideas to spark my imagination and from there my mind will do the rest.
No matter the idea, please inform me. By "idea," I mean something along the lines of the dead returning to life or extra terrestrials invading Earth for acquirement of advanced technology. You get the point, eh?
Thanks in advance!
A game of epidemic proportions. By learning about the social/behavioural/physiological aspects of an alien race the player is invading, the player designs virii/bacteria/fungi to kill/incapactiate the population.
They must also keep their population safe from viral counterattack.
You could write an interesting story about the spread of disease, which people are especially concerned about with the current terrorism and bird flu scares.
The game could take any form. It could be a largely simulation based game where you play around with incubation times, cross breading organisms/genetic engineering, mutation rates to counter immunity while preventing it from spreading to other species, etc.
Or an adventure/tactical game where you have to administer the pathogens somehow.
Just a game I always throught would be interesting, both in terms of plot and mechanics.

A game about a dream. Nothing seems to make much sense and there's always a surreal feel to the atmosphere. There are things you normally see but they act differently than they usually do. Pulling it off would be hard but if done well, it should be a work of art.
Or how about an RPGish like game with a huge focus on a guard system? Like the ability to block, parry, counter, dodge and such. It could be about a swordsman who feels that he needs to handicap himself to using a small dagger to improve his skill or a holy knight that never attacks unless provoked. Their attack strength and defense should be total crap unless it is a counter canceled from a dodge or parry.

I like dialogue interactions (ala a dating sim) and puzzles, myself. No violence, horror, tragedy, or grittiness please; I prefer good old fashioned "sense of wonder", romance, comedy, and small doses of angst. Dreamlike is good, surreal stories with rich symbolism can be very immersive and memorable. On the other hand non-surreal elaborate science-fiction or fantasy biology and culture-building can be great too.
This is actually how Xenallure was born, asking people in the writing forum what they wanted to see in a game story. Of course it has evolved a lot since then, but that survey gave us a good foundation, I hope it works well for you too. [smile]

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.
