One of my machines is a Celeron 300a running at 455. It seems to do just fine with devstudio, though admittedly I don't have any machines fast enough to compare to. It's much better than my AMD300, and much better than my 350 at work.

I was wondering if celeron based systems are a good choice for porgramming. I was reading an article that said most games don't really make use of L2 cache, but what about apps like visual studios. Is it really going to be noticeable. It couldn't be that noticeable considering I'm running a 233 MII (Cyrix).

Yes, if you develop game that based on 3d accelerator usage, L1 and L2 cache begins insignificant. Mostly advantages of cache was used to accelerate software rendering. For example, texture mapper based on cache usage (tiled texture mapper) a twice faster than normal texture mapper (on Pentium II).
