Does anyone know/have any good textures for the sun and moon that can be used for billboarding on a skydome? I have googled for them, but I cannot come across anything that looks good. Thanks

I'm pretty sure that you can find textures of our solar bodies on NASA's website... they are rather high resolution, and perfect for wrapping around spheres.

no, those are too big. Im just looking for rather small textures so that I can billboard them in the game. I guess they can be called sprites without animation. The just need to be rather small, and have alpha channel, or (black edges for the sun) so that they can blend onto my skydome.

Shrink them?? Its really easy to do fairly high-quality shrinks with The Gimp or something similiar. And you can add in an alpha-channel.

It's called image size... if you change it to a lower value the images will be smaller...
