Usage of Gnome icons!
Hi! I was wondering if anyone knows if it's legal to use icons from gnome and/or gimp in other programs? I'm working on a program and I'm having really big problems trying to find any free icon packs for applications!

They are under the GPL or the LGPL, depending on which ones you are referring to.
Comment from 1999, with the email address of the gnome artist at that time.
Your program will need to reflect the (intentionally) viral nature of the GPL if you wish to use them. That's just the nature of Open Source. If you use shared stuff from the community, you need to share back to the community.
Microsoft offers free icons... but then your app will look like well, a windows app.

Ok.. that throws them out of the window... does anyone know of any icon packs I can use that's free? I'm thinking about releasing the source code of the program, but I DON'T want to use GPL. For instance a free gnome skin?
