So I cant download images from the internet to use for a game model (airplane), and I obviously cant got take a picture, so what should I do. I know everyone says photoshop is sweet but I dont have drawing skills really. How would you go about making a realistic texture for an airplane (F-14)?

You don't have drawing skills, can't DL or take a photo, don't want to take the time to learn to texture, hmmm, how can you make a realistic texture on that criteria? Probably by paying someone. If you don't want to take the time to learn skills (drawing and photoshop) how do you expect to make a product that requires them? When you posted that question did you really expect a response? I know I'm coming off as an ass, but laying down the criteria that you can't use photos and you don't want to learn photoshop or how to draw but still desire to make a good texture does not speak well.

Well if someone wanted to make a plane texture, do they draw a plane from top, bottom, etc, and then photoshop it. I know I have seen tutorials where you can add noise to images and a color to get a colored rock kind of texture, but I didnt know if to get real looking textures if they were drawn by hand or just 100% drawn with photoshop tools.

without drawing or painting skills you're going to be very limited in making textures. I don't know what to tell you, you might want to outsource to someone else

Well that depends on how you layed out your UVs ("unwrapped" the Airplane model) in your 3D program. You take a snapshot of your UVs all layed out, then open that image in Photoshop, and paint the texture over the UVs.

(we are talking about textures for a 3D model, right? You never mention it, but you say Top/Bottom so I assume so.)

Me personally, what I would do, is I *would* download images from the internet, and I'd place samples of the images for my texture, and use the Clone Stamp tool to spread it around and fill it in.
Well I already modelled it in 3d and texture it with a pic off the internet, but since it's illegal to use images off the internet, I have to find a different way.
