Hey, Okay so I have a cube and I want to extrude a circle out of one of the faces. How do you do this? The technique I've been using is subdivising the face so I get a billion vertices to then select them in a cercle and then extruding... I know that must be horribly wrong, so is there a proper way to do this? Thanks!

Are you trying to put a cylindar into the middle of a cube and then make it so there is a huge cylindar in the cube? Not sure what you mean by extrude a circle out of the face.

Just make a cylinder on top of the sphere, to extrude it out will give you a ton of vertices and faces. Better to fake it and keep it as two seperate objects.

Maybe boolean operations are what you are looking for.

Thanks that's what I was looking for.

edit: and what I meant was to "punch" a whole that looks like a cynlinder.

You can use a Boolean, but that will be the same as making a ton of subdivisions, except the cube will have a single 10 sided face instead of 10 three sided faces. Booleans aren't an answer to your problem, just another way of doing the same thing but far messier (Booleans are generally considered a no-no in most practices, especially games). Which is why I suggested the two seperate objects. Will save you bigtime on poly count.

What I wanted was to make a hole in the cube in the shape of a cylinder and not have a cylinder coming out of the cube like I first mentioned.

I assume your prob. wasnt solved..... new scene> should already have the cube there. add> cylinder and place it in the cube how u wish. right click on the cube, then hold shift and right click the cylinder. Press 'W' for the boolean menu> intersect. Then click the delete button on your keyboard and it will delete the original 2 meshses and give u the new one with a hole in it.
